Ridge cap covers the peak where two roof planes meet, with foam closures underneath sealing each rib. Eave trim finishes the bottom edge and directs water into the gutter rather than behind it. Rake trim closes the gable ends against wind-driven rain. J-channel receives the panel edge where it terminates against a wall. Corner trim handles outside and inside corners on walls. Gable and drip edges finish the visible lines.
This is worth being blunt about. Ridge cap laid over ribs with nothing filling the profile leaves a continuous gap along the entire peak of your building. Wind-driven rain goes straight in, and so do wasps and birds. Outside closures at the ridge and inside closures at the eave are what make the system work. If a supplier sells you ridge cap and does not mention closures, ask.
Trim rolled in a different production run to your panels can read slightly off, particularly where ridge meets panel in direct sun. Ordering trim and panels together from the same line avoids it. We also cut trim to length rather than supplying fixed stock pieces, which means fewer joints along a ridge line — and every joint is a place to seal.
