What manufacturing actually means here

Steel arrives at our Farmville plant as raw coil. Our roll-forming lines run it through a series of dies that shape the ribs, then cut each panel to the length your job requires. We stock the coil, we set the schedule, and we control the cut. A reseller orders finished panels from someone like us, marks them up, and passes on whatever lead time their supplier gives them. Both companies will say 'manufacturer' on their website. Only one of them owns the machine.

When demand spikes across the industry, resellers queue behind everyone else at the same handful of plants. We do not queue — we schedule. That is why we can tell customers to order Tuesday and collect Thursday on standard materials, and why our lead times hold steady through the seasons when other quotes start slipping by weeks. It is also why we can cut a panel to 27 feet 4 inches instead of selling you a 28-foot panel and telling you to trim it.

What we will tell you that a reseller cannot

Because we control the line, we can tell you the exact gauge, the exact coating, and where the coil came from. If you ask a reseller what gauge is in their quote and the answer is vague, that is worth noting. Ask us and you get a number. We would rather lose a sale to a customer who understood what they were comparing than win one because the spec sheet was fuzzy.

It is a fair question to ask any supplier, and you should ask it.

What steel gauge do you manufacture?

29-gauge is our standard for roofing and siding panels and covers the large majority of residential, agricultural and light commercial work. We also run 26-gauge for long exposed spans or hail-prone sites. Framing is galvanized square tube in 14-gauge and 12-gauge depending on the building.
